West Side Story

"While other principals took time to warm into their characters throughout the show, Karin Mushegain’s Maria was gripping from the very second she appeared. Her portrayal of Maria was exciting and energetic, and she stole the show with her resonant mezzo-soprano voice, which was bright, full and forward. Mushegain was convincing as Maria in every way - her appearance, accent and body language. As an actress, she played Maria as an innocent and vulnerable teenager, conveying a wide variety of emotions while falling in love and taking the journey into womanhood."

"One of the production’s most electric moments sparks into action when Maria, played by Karin Mushegain and Tony, sung by Jeffrey Picon see each other for the first time. 'These two performers are such good actors,' said Helfrich. 'The whole cast is on stage, but the way they play it, everyone else seems to drop away.'"

"The optimum cast includes...Karin Mushegain... The singers' English diction is uniformly excellent...There is not a wink link in this cast.  It is by far the best thing the Opera Center has done: an evening of theater not to be missed."

Die Zauberflöte
"Similar (silly, yet sexy), where the Three Ladies, here played by Carolyn Betty, Jennifer Holloway, and Karin Mushegain. Eaton captured a bit of the Rhinemaidens with their competitive flirting, while the three sang with great ensemble."

 Rigoletto

"An opera of the stature of Rigoletto depends heavily on its prinicpals, and here Opera Western Reserve really hit the jackpot...As brother and sister...Sparafucille and mezzo-soprano Karin Mushegain as Maddalena were also excellent."

Pittsburgh Symphony Pops – Holiday Concert 2006 & 2007
"Complete contrast followed when Karin Mushegain sang romantic French composer Adolphe Adam's 'O Holy Night.' It was a wonderful change at the Pops to hear a fine, legitimate voice…Mushegain's intensity also was successful in the gospel style of 'Sweet Little Jesus Boy.' "

Pittsburgh Opera and EPCASO present Samuel Ramey and Friends
"Three selections by Mozart on the second half were exquisite…
Capping this set was a magnetic performance of 'La ci darem la mano' from 'Don Giovanni,' in which Karin Mushegain's Zerlina turns from being seduced by Oren Gradus' Giovanni to leading him off stage."
